The gallery published it in an edition of 1000. Daze, born Chris Ellis in 1962, was already known in New York before the show: he was included in Beyond Words at the Mudd Club in 1981, alongside Basquiat and Haring, and had a solo show at Fashion Moda in the Bronx the following year. In 1983 he showed at the Sidney Janis Gallery. The cover is plain, a pale ground with the name in blue capitals, and that restraint makes it an object of its own, separate from the walls the work came from.
