Dougados came across the practice in a surf video and, by his own account the first in France to take it up, started on the beaches of Biarritz in 2008. The book gathers around 150 works from the Basque and Landes coast and some ten countries (South Africa, Morocco, Portugal, Spain, Ireland, Bermuda), with his notes on where each came from: the line of a rock, a puddle, Moroccan zellige, Portuguese \u003cem\u003eazulejos\u003c\/em\u003e, and in the recent pieces the letterforms of graffiti, taken out of the city and set against the sea.
