Graffiti meets stone carving in 3016, a collaboration between Moscow artists 0331C and Grisha. Working with hammers and chisels, the pair transfer imagery developed through street painting into granite, cutting deeply into surfaces found in streets, parks and abandoned urban spaces. The material’s weight, texture and resistance introduce a different pace of work, turning the act of leaving a mark into a sustained physical process.
Photographs and accompanying descriptions document the resulting objects, while the artists’ texts recount their experiments with stone and the development of a shared working practice. The title looks a thousand years ahead, proposing that these carvings might outlast their makers and survive into 3016. Connecting contemporary graffiti with ancient inscriptions, the project considers permanence, public space and what happens when objects made outdoors enter a gallery.
