Street Safari is Alan Schaller's second monograph, after Metropolis, and the first title from Irys Publishing, the imprint the London photographer launched in 2026 alongside Irys, his photography app. Ten years of black-and-white street photography with a single subject: the animals that share the city. Pigeons, cats, dogs, horses, monkeys and less expected company, from Jaipur in 2017 to Dubai in 2025, by way of Berlin, New York, Tel Aviv, Cape Town and London. The method is the one Schaller used for Metropolis: find the geometry of light and shadow first, then wait for the animal to complete it. Elliott Erwitt is the precedent he names himself. Irys sells direct rather than through the book trade, which is why the title is hard to find outside its own site.
