Born from obsessive wanderings through the Cimitero Monumentale di Poggioreale in Naples, Capuzzelle presents a meticulous photographic typology of anonymous skulls carved in stone and wrought in iron as funeral ornamentation. The title alludes to the Neapolitan rite of the Capuzzelle, which consisted of adopting and praying for the soul of an anonymous skull. Here, each bone is reintroduced into the world of the living and given a reinvented first name, with a tender, surreal, and biting irony. A raw yet delicate object in which urban drifting meets serial archiving and absurd displacement, this zine draws a parallel and poetic cartography of the city of the dead.
