One of the earliest dedicated street art sales in France, run by Arnaud Oliveux, who had pushed Artcurial into the field from the end of 2006. The timing matters: 2009 is the year French institutions moved on the subject, with T.A.G. au Grand Palais in the spring and Né dans la rue – Graffiti at the Fondation Cartier that summer. The catalogue is a snapshot of the market at the exact moment it stopped being marginal.
Fully illustrated, with detailed lot entries, provenances and estimates that later became reference points for price history on these names. Present: Keith Haring, Rammellzee, Futura 2000, Crash, Daze, Seen, Sharp, Quik, Doze Green, Cope2, Sonic, Hondo, Shuck One, Moze, plus Martha Cooper and Ronnie Cutrone — the photographer and the Warhol studio hand who sat on either side of the scene rather than in it. New York pioneers on one side, the French and European practices that came out of the movement on the other. Lot 157, a 1994 JonOne canvas inscribed "New York and Paris Hopital Ephémère" on the reverse, was estimated at €4,000–5,000 and sold for €9,840 with premium — a fair measure of how the room behaved that afternoon.
