The Vienna based writer ASTRO is best known for his abstract and sharp spaced polygonal pieces that he mainly seems to execute on trains. Selected Works follows his 2021 monograph Schnellbahn from May 2021 were he focused on the local S-Bahn (‘Schnellbahn’) ET4020 train model. His new publication puts the spotlight on the interaction between his illegal activities in the Viennese train net and his atelier works from 2019 to 2026. The canvas-like objects of the POLYGON, TETRAGON, TRIPTYCHON and large scale SAGITTARIUS A* series are made of wood and MDF but also include authentic original metal plates from his beloved ET4020 model. Several of his studio works are directly linked to beforehand painted pieces on trains and connect through relating shapes and colour schemes. His love for the aesthetics of the iron train signs went so far, that produced similar looking ASTRO metal signs on his own and exhibited them in a gallery context with authentic spray paint remains from train actions on them.
