With BLACKBOOK 05 – SHORE the publication series continues by the team behind ILOVEGRAFFITI.DE and RED TOWER Publishing. After years of documentation, research, producing and promoting the graffiti subculture, they decided to go straight back to the roots: A writer’s blackbook. In the pre-internet era of analog photography the blackbook had a unique status. It often featured the writer’s best works, drafts, sketches from friends or tags from heroes – a private portfolio.
SHORE is without a doubt a true legend of German graffiti who started writing in Hamburg in the late 1980s as SIN and later STAR. He quickly adopted a way of designing his works: simple but vivid letters, giant height compared to common pieces of this time, fat outlines, absolutely legible, super clean, often painted in thick full colour whether on trains or on walls and rarely used fadings – a typical aesthetic of the cities Dortmund and also Copenhagen back then.
His high output and professional approach led to his membership in the notorious Real Transit Artists (RTA) crew in 1990. It seemed as would the Hamburg RTA style been executed by the cities most active bombers ENRO, WHO, SERA, LOR, SIR, ENT, SERTA, DINR, VOLA and SHORE alike. When it became clear that all these names have been aliases of the same person the status king was well deserved for Hamburg’s maniac bomber. But the fifth volume of the BLACKBOOK series also focuses on his countless train activities and travels to cities like Vienna, Dortmund, Berlin or New York.
