Can Control is one of the first graffiti magazines published. Founded in Los Angeles by friends and graffiti writers CHARLIE & POWER in 1987 as Ghetto Art before rebranding to Can Control in 1990 with POWER taking the reins. It served as both communication network and illustrative bible of graffiti, with its internationally distributed issues full of photos and interviews.
Through the 90s and early 2000s, having your work appear inCan Controlwas a major moment for graffiti writers. The issues instantly became collectors’ items, being bought, stolen, passed around by friends until they were falling apart and often confiscated by authorities.Can Controlhelped define and spread the graffiti culture for over twenty years.
