This second volume in the series bringing together artist JR and cities shines a spotlight on New York. Since 2006, JR’s paste-up artworks have left their mark on the city, and several of his most significant projects have been realized in this cosmopolitan metropolis: Unframed at Ellis Island, in collaboration with Robert De Niro (2014); The Chronicles of New York City, facing the Brooklyn Bridge (2024); as well as large-scale collaborative installations, such as those in Times Square and Flatiron Plaza. An introductory text by The New Yorker’s editorial director, Françoise Mouly, offers a fresh perspective on this body of work.
