Creativity can manifest itself in a thousand different ways: from street art to sculptures, without forgetting collaborations with fashion brands and with the world of television. KAWS knows something about it, born Brian Donnelly, who is in effect one of the artists most appreciated by great collectors and not only: a name among the trendiest of the moment, and someone says that he could also set a shadow on the great genius of Banksy.
Born in Jersey City in 1974, he has been fascinated by graffiti and the underground environment since he was a teenager. After moving to New York, in 1996 he graduated from the School of Visual Arts in Manhattan and began collaborating with Walt Disney, working mainly as an illustrator. His desire to experiment with his creativity with always different shapes and tools allows him to establish himself first in the world of television, then as a sculptor and street artist, today as a designer for some well-known clothing brands.
KAWS brings toys, illustrations and pop culture to museums around the world. His paintings abstract the family dimension with changes of perspective, bold color mixtures and sharp lines; his characters and figures dilude into our imagination. KAWS is a master of collaborations: his range from the recent clothing line with the Sacai brand to partnerships with brands such as Uniqlo, Sesame Street, Star Wars... followed by a long and so on.
