Between 1986 and 1990, Peter Klasen developed his Mur de Berlin cycle, a series of one hundred paintings completed just before the wall's fall in 1989. Initiated the same year he had a major retrospective at Berlin's Kunstamt Wedding, the series runs parallel to Klasen's long-standing exploration of urban iconography — car parks, mezzanines, discarded objects — applying his cold, fragmented visual language to the wall itself as both physical barrier and political symbol. This catalog, published on the occasion of the exhibition at Nouveau Théâtre d'Angers, June 7 – July 7, 1988, brings together reproductions from the cycle alongside an essay by art critic Jean-Jacques Lévêque and an interview between Klasen and Alin A. Avila.
