This research examines the errancy and transformation of gothic writing from Spain to Mesoamerica, Mexico, and the southwestern United States. Far from its place of origin, gothic writing circulates and adapts. The accumulation of varied influences and heritages, as well as gothic writings natural ease for hybridity contributes to the development of new forms, notably goticas Mexicanas and Cholo writings. This publication also brings together personal photographs and a selection of public-domain images documenting these Gothic manifestations.
