Party Harders came out of Liège in 2006 and spent the following ten years wrecking the night across Belgium and beyond — a crew of DJs, producers and graphic agitators who arrived from graffiti and never quite left it. A Decade of Night Troubles is their own archive, 2006 to 2016, shot from the inside: dancefloors, backstages, vans, afters. Spray Can Arts' Michael Nicolaï traces the look back to the crew's graffiti years, when they photographed their walls on cheap film cameras and simply kept using the same cameras once they started throwing parties. Nothing in here is a press photo.
The book's point is that the music and the visuals were always the same job. Flyers, posters and shirts built out of hand-drawn type and throw-up spray, records, residencies, festival stages — the Liège crew ended up with a residency at the Social Club in Paris and sets at Pukkelpop, I Love Techno and Les Ardentes, running the afters. Assembled under Jimmy Pantera's direction, with photographs by RO and The Leather Heads, texts by Pedro Winter, Didier Stiers and The Subs, and the full cast along the way: Mon Colonel & Spit, Dacos, Highbloo, Vosky, Papy Harder.
