“We paste by night so that equality may see the day.” You’ve seen them: the bold black letters on sheets of white paper plastered across city walls: “We believe you,” “One is not born a woman, but one dies as one,” “Cursed be the eyes that stay closed.”
This book gathers the powerful messages of feminist activists who, since 2019, have been reclaiming public space across France, and beyond, from Geneva to Brussels to Montréal.
Through these nighttime actions, dozens of collectives denounce feminicides, sexual and domestic violence, patriarchy, homophobia, racism, and fascism, while affirming inclusive and intersectional values. Each collage, composed under cover of darkness, is an act of resistance and poetry: a cry of rage and hope written on the city’s skin.
Created in collaboration with twelve feminist collage collectives, Sous les collages la rage is both a visual anthology and a political manifesto; a living archive of words that confront injustice with compassion, creativity, and defiance.
